Uniting Voices: KCS at the 2024 NYS AAPI Summit

Advocacy and Engagement

On May 9th, 2024, the Korean Community Services of New York (KCS) proudly supported and participated in the inaugural NYS AAPI Summit in Albany. This pivotal gathering saw representatives from KCS’s Education Department and Mental Health Clinic, including esteemed panelists Teresa Baik and Yuna Youn. They powerfully represented the Korean community, advocating for crucial mental health services for Asian youth and emphasizing the need for spaces dedicated to racial healing, grounded in real-life community experiences.

Collaborative Leadership

The summit kicked off with an inspiring speech by Assemblymember Grace Lee and featured prominent figures such as Assemblymember Ron Kim, Senator John Liu, and Council Member Linda Lee. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts and legislative support in addressing the challenges faced by Asian American Pacific Islander communities.

KCS is committed to continuing its work in mainstream American society, developing programs that meet community needs, and planning events in partnership with government agencies. This commitment to advocacy and community service is fundamental to our mission, as we strive to forge stronger connections and build a resilient community.
